Flowers have been a continuous source of inspiration in my work: The floral compositions fascinate me, especially the vibrant colors, intriguing shapes and the fact that two arrangements are not the same. They are often given as a heartful gift and in semiotics, they are interesting conveyors of meaning. On top of that, most of the artists I admire have at some point in their lives painted flowers.

With the rise of big NFT (non-fungible tokens) editions, I wanted to explore how I could use generative art techniques to create digital flower arrangements to pay tribute to this motif and the artists that inspired me. I ended up creating 10’000 variations, based on 50 flowers I digitally illustrated. These compositions have a twist: Not a person but an algorithm “hand-picked” each flower to create bouquets that share similar traits but are 100% unique. This way of working captures the Zeitgeist of our generation that relies more and more on the use of digital technology.
